Eleven-year-old budget airline easyJet recently carried its 150-millionth UK passenger, from Bristol International Airport to Barcelona. To honor the occasion, the low-cost airline gave their landmark passenger one year’s unlimited free travel from Bristol with easyJet.
After starting with two leased planes on November 10th, 1995, easyJet has expanded its fleet to 137 aircraft, which carry more than 35 million passengers a year between 83 airports in 22 countries.
easyJet introduced flights from Bristol a little over five years ago. During the next twelve months, easyJet expects Bristol passenger traffic to pass 3.3 million, an increase over 2.7 million carried in the previous twelve months.
Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director at Bristol International Airport, said, “Over 13 million passengers have flown on easyJet services to and from Bristol International.”
Service from Bristol, easyJet’s second largest base, continues to expand, with new routes to Funchal, Lisbon, Innsbruck, and Gdansk scheduled to begin operation in the fall.
